How to isolate ourselves from the noise of the neighbors

Listening to the neighbors all the time can be very annoying. The sounds of the neighbors when we try to rest or sleep or when we want to watch a series or movie comfortably. Sometimes we have noisy neighbors and a simple conversation can solve the problem. Other times we have problems with insulation. This means that even though our neighbor's intention is not to make noise, it can be noticed.

Types of noise and regulations
On the one hand, our air and sound noise, neighboring music, and even the sound of the street and traffic. On the other hand, there will be bumps. They also spread through the air, but on the other hand they also spread through rigid building elements such as walls and floors. There are solutions in both cases.

In 2009, the Construction Techniques Act introduced special regulations to protect homes from noise. This means that if your house was built before 2009, you may have insulation problems that can only be solved with more or less major engineering work.

The acoustic cladding
It is one of the most used solutions, both for price and ease of implementation. This involves placing a sound-absorbing layer on top of an existing partition that abuts the neighboring partition. The insulating material can be different from cork panels, rock wool or cellulose fiber. Then plasterboard is added.

Insulated roof
Upstairs neighbors are probably the noisiest. Isolating the ceiling is also a good solution, preventing you from hearing clicks or moving furniture at higher volumes. A good option is a suspended ceiling, not to be confused with a suspended ceiling. The fixing points of the false ceiling are responsible for absorbing vibrations, thus preventing the transmission of impact sound.
If we only have problems with air noise, a standard false ceiling is usually a solution that can give good results.

Best solid doors
Although the solid door was actually the first option decades ago, little by little it has been moving towards the hollow door model. They are cheaper and more aesthetically pleasing, but not as insulating as solid doors. Solid wood doors always provide better soundproofing of rooms than hollow core doors.

Enhanced windows
What if the noise they make on the terrace bothers us? In this case, the only solution is to upgrade our cabinet. In addition, in this way we will also prevent the noise generated on the street, such as traffic, from entering.

Windows must be completely sealed, but it is also recommended that they have double-glazed windows. In this way we will end the propagation of sound waves.

It should be noted that the opening or tilting windows are also more hermetic than other models, so they isolate us better.

The textile
Did you know that textiles can also act as noise absorbers? This is the cheapest option, although it does not give the above results. Some drugs are very interesting and can create a healthy barrier. The closer, the better the density.
Therefore, thicker curtains help to isolate outside noise, as well as rugs and rugs, which will isolate some noise from lower floors.
